Becoming a member of the Sault Malayalee Association (SMA) is about more than just signing up — it's about claiming your place in a growing community of people who share your heritage, values, and vision for the future.
Membership gives you a voice and a vote. It allows you to shape the direction of our association, influence decisions, and become eligible for leadership opportunities.

Membership Benefits
Membership Fee
- Fee: $10 CAD per year
- Validity: Until June 30 each year (renew annually on July 1)
- Payment Method: Collected via Zeffy (no extra charges)
How to Become a Member
- Click the “Become a Member” button below
- Fill out your details in the membership form
- Pay the $10 annual fee
- Receive confirmation and a welcome email from SMA
You can still be a volunteer or supporter without becoming a member — but membership unlocks your voice in how SMA is run.

Roles Available
Volunteers support a wide range of initiatives depending on interest, availability, and skillset. Roles include:
- Event Support – help plan and run cultural programs like Onam, Vishu, and Christmas
- Newcomer Support – assist international students and new families
- Content & Communication – website and social media updates
- Backstage & Logistics – manage event setup, tech, coordination
- Committee Participation – structured teams running SMA activities
How to Join
- Submit your interest form via the "Join Us" page or contact us directly
- Tell us your areas of interest (culture, support, logistics, etc.)
- We’ll connect with you via email or phone about current opportunities
You do not need to be a paid member to volunteer, but members may receive preference for committee roles.
Types of Volunteers Needed
- Sports Committee: Organizes matches, tournaments, athletic events
- Student Committee: Supports new student arrivals, social events
- Cultural Committee: Plans and coordinates festivals like Onam & Vishu
- Arts & Media Committee: Decoration, design, photography, stage, promotions
You can choose one or more committees based on your interest and availability.
